About

Slatework is a small, free toolkit for independent language tutors and the teachers who tutor on the side. It's the second project from Authorly — same maker, same approach, sharper niche.

Why this exists

Tutoring online means choosing a platform that takes 25–33% of your hourly rate and makes you compete on it. Tutoring privately means filing your own taxes, writing your own contracts, building your own client list, planning every lesson, and marking every piece of writing. Neither is bad; both have parts that platforms and templates won't help you with. Slatework is the missing layer.

Who it's for

• Independent language tutors with private 1:1 students
• Tutors on italki, Preply, Wyzant, Cambly, or Tutorful who also want a direct client book
• Classroom language teachers who side-tutor — or who just need a faster way to plan and grade

How it stays free

Two ways. (1) Affiliate links to tools you'd already pick yourself — Wise, Stripe Link, the platforms themselves. We never recommend something we wouldn't use. (2) Eventually, an optional Pro tier for power users that adds saved drafts and bigger AI quotas. The 10 free tools stay free.

How your data is handled

See the privacy page. The short version: nothing leaves your browser unless we explicitly tell you, no accounts, no tracking pixels, no selling.
